My current movement practice concentrates on exploring the embodiment of imagery. It allows the body to feel as if it was transforming itself into multiple living forms and it grants the body a kind of autonomy – its own language and agency. In the performance, I juxtapose this practice with my early movement experiences – a childhood career in rhythmic gymnastics dominated by discipline and competition – and after philosopher Catherine Malabou I raise questions of ontological plasticity and the possibilities of conscious change. How are we shaped by our actions? How do we become something/someone through our own imaginations, and how through everyday activities and their qualities? What kind of benefit governs our choices? And finally, how much of attention do we dedicate to external conditioning, and how much to languages and landscapes we find in ourselves?
