The course is based on the question of how we receive performance nowadays. By moving away from theatrical devices we will attempt to look at the body as an abstract form which when put in varying contexts tells its own story. The result is a very interesting with strange and shifted but organic sound movement that influences the body language of the dancers as well as the discourse of choreography.

The goal is not just to become aware of acoustic environments but to also open new creative spaces that influence choreography and dance. In terms of developing interesting ways of expression this research is a step into acoustic virtuality.

The workshop is based on the working method of Liquid Loft company. It starts with a general warming up leading into structured improvisation forms. The focus is then on synchronization of body language and voice asking the participants to perform in our acoustic environment consisting of different speakers placed in space. Finally every participant should be able to perform in his own sound environment. Participants will be also asked to work on movement characters that they bring on stage.

One main aesthetic element in the workshop is the acoustic (or sonic) display of this new hybrid social space. The voice has always been considered the very core of the private self, the main channel through which the interior can invade and address the exterior space. The idea of synchronisation helps to build up different stage characters which should force the flexibility and especially the personality of the dancers.

This choreographic intensive is mostly thought as a master class and has been held for professional dancers, movement- or theater students and choreographers.
