In his paintings and sculptures made of kiddy toys Wojciech Wroński refers to the iconosphere dominated by American mass culture. He deals with it from the perspective of a graveyard of used up items and images whose primary meanings are mutated in an unsettling way. Poetical sculptures-installations made by Magda Fidrych make use of shoddy materials, by-products of lighthearted consumerism: fragile sculptures made of fragments of golden deli boxes vaguely bring to mind Calder’s modernist mobiles. The desert rose appearing in one of her installations, is a good metaphor for her whole work – desert rose is an unusual and precious object made of such trivial and common material as sand.
