roundABOUT offers choreographic, interactive experience where the youngest spectators and their caretakers are invited to discover and co-create the scenic environment. Through the work with the object, movement, sound and light artists encourage participants to enter the stage. Its safe, artistic and carefully composed space becomes a place of creative and free explorations.
Performance was born out of gratitude towards children for their innate wisdom. It is them who, with their spontaneous actions, draw adults into creative play and become the guides in the world of art. The performance gives participants an opportunity to develop their own creativity, express their tenderness, and deepen their openness to the world and to other people. We are pleased to invite everyone to discover a gentle, leisurely and multilayered world.
Does space make sounds? How many parents does it take to fill a room with screaming? How many children can fit between the floor and the ceiling? Is it possible to disappear in an empty space?
If you want to look for answers to these questions, come to the Movement Lab. Our field of exploration will be the space around us, and our small and large bodies will become our tools of investigation. We will listen, smell, observe, measure and touch. By setting our bodies in motion, and above all, by having fun, we will try to rediscover the world around us.
The premise of this workshop is to engage in activities together through the body and touch. We will look for different ways to play- the play both develops and brings both sides closer together. Children above all need new stimuli and experiment with their own bodies and their possibilities. An important part of the workshop is contact with peers, which creates an opportunity to observe and learn from each other. Let’s meet and together create a living playground for our kids.
“and dot” is a movement workshop for families on the physical relationship in space between child and adult. It all starts with a single dot on the floor. What can it have to do with movement? Will a row of dots lead us somewhere? And what happens when the dot meets the line? We will play with being close and far away from each other in space, in relation with one person and with the group, using selected components of contemporary dance.
I have long had a need to meet with dance educators working with children and/or families in the area of improvisation. I am particularly interested in the subject of workshop/lesson dramaturgy and improvisation as one of the methods of conducting them. In my work I am inspired, among others, by the practice of the Italian duo Segni Mossi, who combine sign and movement. During our meeting, I will share this experience. I am convinced that sharing practices is one of the good and pleasant forms of learning, so I propose a meeting for professionals, where we learn from each other.
Each participant of the workshop has 25 minutes: 15 minutes to share their own teaching practice and 10 minutes for questions from the group. The format of the time is free: presentation, pair exercises, performance, PechaKucha, lecture and others. Each participant has at their disposal: a room with a ballet floor, TV with laptop connection, sound equipment, coffee, tea, water.
I also invite you to a workshop for families: and period, which will precede our meeting. Based on it, I will talk about the drama of the workshop. I will also share one of my recent bad decisions in experimenting with improv for children.
The meeting is made possible thanks to a residency grant in Segni Mossi awarded to Monika Kiwak by Art Station Foundation by Grażyna Kulczyk.
