The workshop asks how we can use dance as a research tool to understand the patterns and organizing principles of the environments we live in. How does experiencing dance in an urban environment influence our choreographic choices? During the workshop, participants will create their own processes and scores, and explore methodologies and strategies that the artist has been developing over the past few years. Improvisation will be the primary tool of the work. The results of each day’s work will accumulate into a final event/performance. Optional night and (very) morning walks provide alternative ways to orient oneself in space. This practice builds concentration, flexibility and adaptability, and views the dancing body as a highly specialized perceptual apparatus. From here it is only a step to reveal experimental choreographic possibilities.
