Jennifer Monson is a choreographer, performer, and the artistic director of iLAND, an interdisciplinary laboratory for art, science, and dance; she understands practice as a tool for forging connections between ecological, philosophical, and aesthetic approaches to knowledge and understanding of our environment. Artistically directing the iLAND lab, Jennifer creates expansive projects informed and inspired by natural phenomena and artificially created environments. Her recent ventures include BIRD BRAIN (2000-2011) iMAP/Ridgewood Reservoir (2007), Mahomet Aquifer Project (2009), SIP (sustained immersive process)/watershed (2010), Live Dancing Archive (2012), and in tow (2015). Her current project, bend the even, explores light based on research conducted between night and dawn. Jennifer Monson is a professor of choreography on the faculty of the University of Illinois (Urbana Champaign in the Dance).
