This will be one of the most alternative events throughout the whole project. We wish to fill the gap in dance education with a coaching session for artists who are interested in an area that is not so well developed in Poland, i.e. professional contemporary dance for children. Young dancers will work with Dalija Aćin, a choreographer who, for nearly fifteen years, has been creating her own productions for adults and cooperating with some major dance centres in Europe, for instance the Tanzquartier Wien. Five years ago she also became involved in some intensive explorations in the field of contemporary dance for children. An important factor may be her national background – the advancement of contemporary dance in Serbia encountered similar obstacles to its counterpart in Poland and even though Serbia is not a country that is considered a leading dance centre it is, actually, the source of some of the best internationally acclaimed choreographies for children (a fact which Aćin, among others, has significantly contributed to). Aćin’s coaching will focus on finding potential forms of communicating with children through movement. The artist does not regard productions for the youngest audience as a childish and simple form of art, but creates her professional choreographies by looking at how children move and by acknowledging their needs. In her work she displays a very open approach to children creating interactive shows that include the young viewers in the action on stage and are inspired by their unlimited expression.
