As part of her scholarship, Alexandra explored the relationship between choreography and astronomy, specifically the state, properties and functionality of the human body in relation to gravity. What do these seemingly distant fields as astronomy and choreography have in common? How can they inform and inspire each other?
The starting point for the research was a reflection on the practical issues of contemporary astronomy and transferring them directly into the field of choreographic research. In particular, the artist focused on the big bang theory at the molecular level and on alternative hypotheses of the origin of the universe. She looked at the body as a micro and macro cosmos – both a world in itself and a part of a larger whole. Referring to chaos theory, she searched for new spatial and temporal solutions for choreography.
Research for the scholarship was conducted within Art & Science MA degree studies at Central Saint Martins University in London
