Old Brewery New Dance at Malta Festival

Old Brewery New Dance at Malta Festival was an annual end-of-season climax event and a festival version of the Old Brewery New Dance programme. It allowed the broader audience of the Malta Festival – not only locals and those already interested in dance – to witness the most interesting contemporary choreography artists. Every year, the festival’s agenda has celebrated diversity in forms of choreography (opening up to projects of extended choreography as well) and confronted the viewers with, often radical, offerings from around the world, while at the same time promoting the most interesting Polish artists, and artwork created in Stary Browar throughout the year, also projects specially prepared for the festival. Many world-class dance artists have been featured for the first time in Poland at our program of Malta Festival.

Over 10 days, Studio Słodownia +3 and also public spaces in Stary Browar have been pulsating with the intense dance energy of creators and viewers. Fulfilling the programme’s mission – disseminating knowledge about latest avant-garde trends in choreography, raising discussion on its ever-expanding limits and inspiring reflection on its present condition and future – has been made possible and visible thanks to the Malta Festival frame.Over all festival’s editions, we have presented close to 200 shows from around the world, always enriching the agenda with many accompanying events (workshops, discussion panels, exhibitions, meetings with artists and peer to peer exchanges).
