Yasmeen Godder
Singular Sensation
26.06.2009
Studio Słodownia +3

Known to Old Brewery’s audience from her last year’s performance in “Sudden Birds”(April 2008), Yasmeen Godder is one of the most recognizable and renown Israeli choreographers. In her new work, “Singular Sensation”, Godder explores with the performers the question of who we are in the hyper informed, self-conscious world of “look at me” and how can we manage to find excitement, a true thrill or a deep connection to sensation. This question led the process from the plasticized and artificial all the way to a search towards finding the “authentic”, if such exists. The desire to please oozes out through the performers, as they are in search of finding a singular sensation. The world created on stage is one of 5 different individuals pushing the boundaries of their own numbness.

“Watching the presentation, it is possible to imagine that this was the way humans behaved before they acquired speech to help obscure the language of their bodies”

Helen Kaye

The spectacle was named the best Israeli dance production of 2008 (Time-Out, Tel Aviv).
