Tel Aviv - Blind date
13.07.2008 – 15.07.2008
Tmuna Theater, Israel, Tel Aviv

The main theme of the 2007/2008 Old Brewery New Dance program was artistic collaboration. According to this theme, the central and season-long part of the Old Brewery New Dance in 2007/2008 was the project of artistic exchange between Polish and Israeli dance communities, organized together with Adam Mickiewicz Institute as a part of the Polish-Israeli Cultural Year.

The year-long program culminates in a series of presentations of the effects of cooperation between Polish and Israeli artists in both partner countries.

In Poland – during this year’s edition of the Old Brewery New Dance Festival in Malta on 23-28.06 (workshops, shows, an improvisation project called Randka w ciemno [Blind Date] in which musicians and choreographers meet on stage for the first time in their lives dialoguing and improvising on movements and sounds in front of the audience); in Israel – during the Vdance festival in Tel Aviv (13-15. 06) and importing the Poznan format of improvisation shows (Blind dates) in TMUNA Theatre and Azrieli mall (Tel Aviv, 13,14,15.07), whose success in Israel exceeded our expectations!

After a great series of shows at Malta Festival in Poznań, during three improvised events, this time the Israeli audience was able to watch the artistic “struggle” of as many as 18 artists!

The project involved 11 choreographers: Arkadi Zaides, Dana Ruttenberg, Maya Stern, Alise Dor-Cohen, Ilanit Tadmor, Abigail Rubin, Shlomit Fundaminsky, Shlomi Bitton, Tomer Sharabi, Anita Wach and Rafał Dziemidok and 7 musicians: Nir Yaniv, Daniel Davidovski, Vered Dekel, Haruld Rubin, Itay Bachrach, Dominik Strycharski and Aleksander Papierz.

We are already looking forward to the continuation of the project – the fruits of the dating meetings, perhaps not only in the form of further improvisations!

Project co-organized by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute as part of the Polish-Israeli Year 2008/2009
