Running, walking, standing, sitting, laying, rolling, jumping. With family, peers or alone. Vertically, horizontally, on the ground and in the air. Listening to the music tact or to one’s own rhythm. What drawing will remain on paper in response to different type of movement?

The  “_on_line__” performance explores the issue of the traces left by movement. By dancing together, the participants will create huge scale drawings to transform them later in many different ways. Such constructed event can become a creative experience to tighten the bond between kids and their caretakers. It makes also a unique occasion for unusual art encounter.

– Sometimes I think, that maybe there is another place. The Sand Wolf, though almost asleep a moment ago, opened his right eye. […]

– What do you mean there’s another place? He asked.

– For example, everything is like foam,” explained Karusia. – Exactly everything: the froth, and the chairs, and the ground, and every little pebble…

And she imagined how incredibly soft this foam place would be. You could roll over endlessly and never get a bump. You could bounce off everything like a ball.

The creators of the interactive spectacle DOoKOŁA invite families with children aged 1,5-3 years (inclusive) to movement workshop. We will spend time in the studio rolling, family cuddles, running, exploring and jointly building a world out of foam, which was used to create the stage design of the show. The workshop will be an opportunity to deepen the bonds between caregivers and children, united in an unusual activity involving imagination and movement. The free exploration of space and objects by the young participants will be a pretext for joint action and creation.

What trace in space can movement leave? What does it mean to dance a previously captured trace?

During the workshop we will activate both the body and imagination. Through creative tasks carers and their children will be able to experience together the joy of free creation in space and on paper. Together we will create images through movement and move through images.

The workshop is inspired by the trainers’ participation in “Segni mossi”, a research project/laboratory for children by an Italian artist couple (visual artist Alessandro Lumare and choreographer Simona Lobefaro ) that combines movement and drawing.

Grumbling, blabbering, thinking about blue almonds, looking for holes in cheese – these are boredom killers, unproductive activities that, however, very often become the beginning of an amazing adventure.

And where does boredom live? Does it grow like a tree or does it get bigger like a balloon? Does it fall on us or rather we trample into it? Where do you feel bored the most?

The workshop will give you time to get to know boredom, tame it and train it. It will also give space for chaos and mess – which are necessary for something new to emerge. We will wander between these states and observe our impressions. We will travel between the world of imagination and the real world, taking from each what is useful to us and learning that one cannot exist without the other.

Following the natural ability of children to create worlds, meanings, situations in real time, we will take the strategies they use in play and try to transfer them to the dimension of dance and movement. And so, in dance, we will create “something” from “nothing”, “chew” with movement, “bleb” with the whole body, connect the dots and create from them amazing movement shapes and landscapes, which may become, perhaps, the basis for the most wonderful stories. In the simplest terms – we will deal with impressions, feelings and storytelling.

Since 2011 Old Brewery New Dance for Children program has been focusing on the development of contemporary dance for the youngests. The program offered movement workshops and presented the most interesting dance performances prepared with children audiences in mind. We know what is happening in the world of dance education and we want to use this knowledge to create a regular dance group for children. Through movement games and free improvisation Hanna Bylka-Kanceka will create space for children to develop imagination and body awareness, to strengthen motor coordination and above all – to enjoy and release creative expression.
