Since its inception, the Kulczyk Foundation has promoted the art of photography through presentations of the artistic achievements of its most outstanding Polish and foreign artists. In Poland, photography is treated as a semi-utilitarian art, while in the era when images dominate our culture, our lives are computerized and cameras are widely available, its creators often use the latest technologies and create new trends in the visual arts, proving that close to reality, photography can also be an excellent tool at the service of the imagination, or a means of commenting on the world around us. A presentation of this attitude was the exhibition of the world-famous Polish photographer Ryszard Horowitz “Photocompositions”. It presented the artist’s latest works using digital photography and computer collage techniques.
Richard Horowitz’s photographs and photographic compositions, finitely perfect in their aesthetics, are a combination of unfettered fantasy and perfect technique. Any attempt to describe, to capture in words the psychological depth and visionary didacticism contained in them, would mean crossing a boundary that should not be crossed.
