Peter Pleyer & Michiel Keuper Coaching Cranky Interventions
Dance and visual arts in choreographic dialogue
21.10.2019 – 25.10.2019
Studio Słodownia +3

By taking care of our bodies and our environment, we create an identity capable of meeting the challenges of existence in the modern world. The senses gain form, connecting the earth with the open sky, the inside with the outside. We make magic visible through shapes and movement and their interrelationships, through the objects and spaces we annex; supporting each other and offering each other space, we make sure to bring out the best in everyone. Those who are not afraid to be different and are willing to take the risk of physically sharing themselves in dance will meet, confront, talk, serve and inspire each other, and connect in the yet unknown possibilities that the ensemble thus formed offers for the future.

In coaching, we will work with various methods of improvisation, group-creating practices, and interventions from the visual arts (working with objects and costume). By collaborating with artist and fashion designer Michiel Keuper, we will make our work more visible, and open ourselves up to the possibility of constructing images. During the week-long session, Michiel will also share elements of his workshop “VISUAL IMPACT – Color Shape Space”.

We will explore the impact that visual elements can have on performance. A vague costume or an elaborate set design ? – everything you present on stage will influence the audience’s perception, even if you don’t give it any thought. The workshop will propose exercises to develop an awareness of space, shape, colors and objects and the impact they have on our work. We will also focus on compositional and improvisational tools and how to integrate them into the creative process. (Michiel Keuper)

The coaching is inspired by the “cranky bodies dance reset” project that took place in autumn 2017 at Sophiensaele, Berlin.
