The goal of the workshop is an attempt to develop a kind of “conscious presence” while improvising in a variety of situations.

Each day of the workshop begins with exercises that explore the connections between thought, movement and literal presence in a given environment. Aiming to become more aware of the sensory input, we equip ourselves with tools to more easily discover that every moment in action has compositional potential.

The rest of the class consists of examples of both scored and absolutely free improvisation incorporating elements of dance, music, text and light. Through theory and practice, workshop participants will take part in a process where they collectively experience (participate in) a spontaneously created composition.
