Lubelski Teatr Tańca
Towards a good silence, to Bruno Schulz
06.12.2005
Stary Browar Nowy Taniec
Studio Słodownia +3

Performance “Towards a Good Silence” was inspired by biography and work of Bruno Schulz.

The performance was awarded with honorable mention during Theatre Meetings in Lodz (2004) and III prize at X International Presentations of Contemporary Dance Forms in Kalisz (2002).

In the center there is a man and next to him a woman from his imagination who becomes his inspiration and savior. The man is an artist full of fears, which is visible in his every move, and without her he would be completely helpless. But also her existence is solely dependent on him: she appears only in relation to him and becomes alternately his goddess, his muse, his mother.

Jussi Tossavainen, “Helsingin Sanomat” (Helsinki), 15 May 2004

Towards a Good Silence” is a gentle, almost lyrical story about the closeness and distance between a man and a woman, about mutual games, fascinations and humiliations, and finally about an artist and his muse, real or imagined. Women’s feet rest on an open book, me pages, maybe it’s a novel, maybe a diary, a written book, or maybe not yet…

Grzegorz Józefczuk, “Gazeta Wyborcza – Lublin”, November 12, 2002

29.04.05 During the first edition of the OPOZYCJA Dance Theatre Festival in Sopot the main prize went to Ryszard Kalinowski for his performances “Bellissimo” and “Towards Good Silence”. The jury, consisting of: Barbara Sier-Janik, Grzegorz Janikowski, justified their verdict as follows:

We reward the work, the awareness of the performers and the artistic proposals that have proven to us that there is the possibility of creatively combining the opposition between gesture and stillness marked by expression, between music and composing the drama of actions on stage, and between the element of femininity and masculinity, the search for freedom and the acceptance of oneself and one’s condition – MAN and ARTIST.”
