In the theatre which I founded forty years ago I sought, as if in a laboratory, the function and significance of light in the building of a show’s dramaturgy. I consciously gave up words to construct shows only within the relationship between sound (music) and image. The image, contrary to a painted rendition on a stretcher, is a living one that changes before the audience. Not only is it an image in motion, but also in space. Elements like space, the object or the actor are revealed to viewers using light. Light, administered (revealed) to a certain extent, creates and builds a show’s dramaturgy. This theatre (Scena Plastyczna KUL) is also described as a theatre of darkness or blackness. This is so because neutral BLACK, within its cosmic space, better provides for the construction (brining to the light) of the particular sequences of a show. Within a dramaturgically determined time the theatre of artistic narrative (for instance Scena Plastyczna) takes, or rather relocates viewers into a world which leaves a very strong impression of TIME as the main protagonist.
