The laboratory is part of the Beyond Dance project. The mission of Beyond Dance is to present and promote intensely developing Polish choreography in St. Petersburg and to increase the knowledge of the Russian audience about contemporary Poland and its newest art by presenting the most valuable Polish dance achievements. The project aims to promote avant-garde Polish choreography through the presentation of its most interesting achievements at the SKOROHOD center in St. Petersburg in autumn 2016. The main point of the presentation will be the premiere of an original performance choreographed by Polish artists and created especially for a group of St. Petersburg dancers. In addition to promoting Polish choreography, the project aims to initiate a long-term collaboration between two independent cultural centers – Stary Browar in Poznan and the St. Petersburg-based Skorohod Center – for years dedicating their practice to popularization, promotion and production of avant-garde performing arts (in the case of Stary Browar – the latest choreography and performance; in the case of Skorohod – also new theater and music).
