“The glass jar next to the glass jar” is a continuation of Iza’s exploration of human nature. It is a performance about contemplation of the passing, carnality, old age and disease. What exactly is aging? How does one come to self-knowledge when approaching this irreversible stage? What ages first? How does our body behave in illness? Memory loss, poor judgment, difficulty speaking and orienting. Apathy.
Or are the young old old?
“Disease is the nocturnal hemisphere of life, our more oppressive citizenship. From the day we are born, each of us has, as it were, two passports-we belong to both the world of the healthy and the world of the sick.” (Susan Sontag / Illness as Metaphor)
