The workshop offers a broad view of the practice of walking by analyzing its historical, poetic, political, and choreographic dimensions. From purposeful wandering, to aimless wandering, and back to the ordinary everyday step, the simple act of putting foot after foot draws a map of everyday walks, walk-meditations, protest marches, artistic actions, and finally, choreography. We will walk and talk, move and think, stumble and maybe even capture it on Instagram. The workshop invites participants to claim their own walking practices and engage in group activities, through both practical and discursive actions that enable us to raise important questions about how we create, observe, teach, think, talk and walk in the field of dance today. The workshop will be held in English, but those who do not speak English are welcome to attend, as are all those who do not walk.
