Homeless Gallery
07.08.2004 – 13.08.2004
Słodownia

The 20th edition of the Homeless Gallery was hosted in the Malt House of the Old Brewery. The project was intended to popularize photography by presenting to the public the photos of artists, among whom were masters (the originators of the project were world-renowned Polish photographers Tomasz Sikora and Andrzej Świetlik) and professionals, but also photography students and amateur photographers. For professionals, the project became an opportunity to share photos with a group a little wider than the usual regulars at vernissages, and to exchange experiences with students. Amateurs had a chance, often the first time in their lives, to present their work and confront the professionals. In its conception, the Homeless Gallery was an artistic picnic – a celebration of art. The exhibition was attended by 154 artists from Poland and Great Britain, Germany, the United States, Canada and Australia. The project was accompanied by an online and traditional – printed catalog, containing photos documenting the event and a full list of participants. In accordance with the basic idea of the project – the principle of non-commerciality – the catalog was distributed to the public during the ceremonial finisage.
