“Technosomatics” is Frederik Gies’ original practice based on the collective and individual exploration of the endocrine glands and chakras through club dance to techno music, and the reverse process – the exploration of club dance while embodying the glands and chakras. Technosomatics treats mainstream anatomy as fiction, with an emphasis on the body undergoing the experience. It also offers a different kind of collective and social experience from somato-dance or dance-floor activities, offering a safe and authentic space in which to escape social precepts, experience solitude together, and indulge in altered states of consciousness. Technosomatics furthermore opens up alternative avenues for dance writing beyond questions of authorship and choreography.
