In Anne Juren’s solo performance, a thirty-second choreographic sequence is repeated 53 times, each time in a slightly altered form depending on new parameters.
The original choreography is never presented and no variation is repeated twice. In this way, the viewer is confronted with a kind of “third choreography”, created in a constant struggle between the repetition of the same dance phrase and the accumulation of new parameters.
The starting point for the performance is a reflection on the methods of dance creation and the search for “concrete movement”, which makes the interaction between the performer and the audience possible. Code series shows different ways of perceiving one choreography and different parameters governing the movement – time and space, size, tempo, rhythm, different dance and compositional techniques.
