CYP17 is a dance/video performance that shows a crazy vision of the world of the future, asking the question about what our life will be like in the age of genetic manipulation, the resulting superhumans and the CIA cooperating with aliens.

“Gingras’ beautifully oppressive solo sketches a dreadful yet comical-absurd scenario of the future.”—Westdeutsche Zeitung

CYP17 takes place within a clinical white cube. The performer/subject is immersed in a world of futuristic conspiracy that might have been imagined by William Burroughs. There his identity is threatened via information overload, cloning, and genetic manipulation experiments.

Frankfurter Algemeine Zeitung praised CYP17’s compelling portrayal and its use of digital media, noting that the work employs multimedia as “a new, versatile tool amongst others—an artistic instrument, not a hollow central-point.”
