Pulsarus
Polska

Pulsarus is a trio: Dominik Strycharski – electronic simple flutes, leader, Aleksander Papierz – saxophones and Jakub Rukowski – drums, which was originally formed in 2003, only to return later as Dominik Strycharski’s trio. It has released 2 albums: Digital Freejazz 2005, Squared Rotoscope 2006. The second album was made with guest appearances by Tomasz Gwińciński and Piotr Pawlak. Pulsarus is a trio, whose original composition and conception points to jazz and futuristic orientation. The music of the band is definitely closer to experiments with free, groove jazz and new electronics. The music of Pulsarus also includes experimental rock, theater music, contemporary music and noise. Pulsarus is first and foremost a contemporary concept, reflecting the nature of the times. The overriding aspect of this band is uncompromising openness to all possible manifestations of music. That is why the repertoire includes polystylistic arrangements, nujazz themes, deconstructed club beats, free jazz improvisations and heavy riffs. The sound oscillates between acoustic rawness and electronic deformation and space. Another important aspect of Pulsarus is rhythm, reconciling almost tribal motorics and dynamics with conceptual clarity and structure. Various genres interwoven into the whole are used to achieve the final effect and the pure play with convention is never an end in itself. Things happen on the surface and in the background, at the edge of hearing, where you need to reach. The sound and energy that goes far beyond the classic jazz or electric trio makes space and a kind of theatrical unpredictability essential in this construction. The band has played at, among others, Warsaw Summer Jazz Days, Avant Festival, Art Depot, Slot Art, Transvisualia, in Berlin, Recklinghausen, as well as in many clubs (Hipnoza, Akwarium, Żak, Firlej, Rura).
