Myriam
Gourfink
Francja

With works such as Contraindre (2004), This is My House (2005) and Les temps Tiraillés (2008), Myriam Gourfink has developed a demanding, personal choreography based on a precise mode of writing inspired by the work of Rudolf Laban (who developed a theory of movement recording called kinetography in the early 20th century). Her approach, based on yoga and breath control, leads to the recording of the life process in an almost hypnotically slowed down space-time. Here the artist goes against the grain of a culture ruled by speed and energy. Myriam Gourfink collaborates with composer Kasper T. Toeplitz creating real-time sound spaces, as well as computer scientists, exploring with the help of dancers and digital devices the micro-movements of an intense mind-body synergy. The aim of the research is to invite artists, by open score, to create a dance together with a choreographer.
