Maria Claudia Alves Guimarães is a professor and researcher in the area of ​​Dance History, dedicating herself, above all, to the area of ​​ Modern Dance History and Brazilian Dance History. She is Bachelor’s Degree in Performing Arts from the University of São Paulo (1989), Master’s Degree in Dance from the University of Campinas (1998) and PhD in Performing Arts from the University of São Paulo (2003). Since November 2016, she works as a ​​Professor at the Department of Body Arts at UNICAMP, teaching Dance History and Brazilian Dance History. She was Professor of the Department of Theory of Art and Artistic Expression / CAC / UFPE, where she worked, as Coordinator of the Degree in Dance from 2012 to 2014, being responsible for the process of course recognition, and as Head of the Department of Theory of Art and Artistic Expression from 2014 to 2016. She worked as a researcher in the program Rumos Dance of Itaú Cultural from 2000 to 2010, first in the area of controlled vocabulary and after 2003 as responsible for the dates of dance in São Paulo. She worked in dance and theater as a dancer and actress.
