Mala Kline is a performer, choreographer, researcher and writer. She holds a BA in philosophy and comparative literature (UL, Ljubljana) and an MA in theatre (DasArts, Amsterdam). Her unique work is embedded in the technology of dreaming – a creative and performative practice based on the affective and transformative performance of image. Mala is involved in a variety of research, educational and publishing projects. She is the founder of EMANAT, the Institute for Affirmation of Contemporary Dance in Slovenia, whose mission is to disseminate work on dreams and imagery throughout the EU. Her most recent initiative is DREAMLAB, a mobile laboratory for researching and developing work on imagery and dreams in the context of performing art practices. Mala is currently studying with the School of Images (NYC) and is writing a PhD on ethics in performing arts at the Department of Philosophy (UL, Ljubljana) and within the framework of A-Pass (a postmaster programme for performing arts in Brussels). Mala Kline has received major awards in the field of contemporary dance in Slovenia: the Golden Bird Award (Zlata ptica), the Triton Award (Povodni Moz) and the Ksenja Hribar Award for her choreographic practice.
