Ewa Bańkowska, choreographer and performer, who lives and works in Austria (Vienna / Salzburg), last year graduated from Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (SEAD). Her pieces (“Pigs can’t fly”, “Total Luft Panorama”, “non-return-to-zero, baby!” and “enter”) have been shown in Austria, Italy, Germany and Poland. She has collaborated with young Viennese choreographers Amanda Pina (“self” and “sou”) and Gabri M. Einsiedl (“(ein) sichtkörper”), as well as taken part in an improvisation-based project “Auf den Tisch!”, whose idea came from Meg Stuart. Bańkowska was holder of Erasmus grant in Amsterdam (“Dance in Humanities and Society” program), and TURBO residence at Impulstanz festival in Vienna. Based on the absurd and literal joke, her specific stage language, which balances on the banal and the “aesthetics of failure”, has been recognised by critics and audiences alike.
