Following the evaluation of the first edition of the Polish Dance Platform in 2008 and after discussion on the best possible way of organizing selection process for next editions of event, Art Stations Foundation and Zamek Poznan Cultural Center, platform co-organizers, has decided to extend selection process and organize pre-platform presentations as an answer to ongoing infrastructural problems of Polish contemporary dance community. Possibility of presentation of shows was offered to artists with no possibility to perform their work live in the required time frame (necessary to provide jury members with live performance experiences, as it is known to everybody watching only the recordings does not render truthfully the work of choreography). The cycle of presentation was a way to support artists in presenting their work and jury members in the process of choosing the works to be presented at the next Polish Dance Platform.
Presentations before the 2010 platform took place in various cities/festivals in Poland (the organizers of the platform covered the costs of stay and transport, as well as the fees of visiting jury members). In the 12 months preceding the Polish Dance Platform 2012, the platform’s jury pre-selected the number of performances from among the video submissions by Polish artists and thus nearly 30 works were presented in Poznań in several sets open for local audiences. All artists received fees for their performances. After watching the works live, the jury made the final selection from the watched live final pool and thus, composed the program for the event.
